One Nation "Under God" & Return to Sender update

With all the craziness surrounding my daughter's candy cane gifts - I just had to pass this on! Thank you B for sending it to me!! :)

SOMEBODY IS RAISING THEIR KID RIGHT!
One Nation "Under God"

One day a 6 year old girl was sitting in a classroom. The teacher was going to explain evolution to the children.

The teacher asked a little boy: Tommy do you see the tree outside?
TOMMY: Yes.
TEACHER: Tommy, do you see the grass outside?
TOMMY: Yes.
TEACHER: Go outside and look up and see if you can see the sky.
TOMMY: Okay. (He returned a few minutes later) Yes, I saw the sky.
TEACHER: Did you see God up there?
TOMMY: No.
TEACHER: That's my point. We can't see God because he isn't there. Possibly he just doesn't exist.

A little girl spoke up and wanted to ask the boy some questions.

The teacher agreed and the little girl asked the boy: Tommy, do you see the tree outside?
TOMMY: Yes.
LITTLE GIRL: Tommy do you see the grass outside?
TOMMY: Yessssss!
LITTLE GIRL: Did you see the sky?
TOMMY: Yessssss!
LITTLE GIRL: Tommy, do you see the teacher?
TOMMY: Yes
LITTLE GIRL: Do you see her brain?
TOMMY: No
LITTLE GIRL: Then according to what we were taught today in school, she possibly may not even have one!

(You Go Girl!)

"FOR WE WALK BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT"
II CORINTHIANS 5:7

As for an update . . . I spoke with the Principal again today (she didn't call me back last week as promised). She is waiting for the lawyers and school system to have their "meet and confer" about this issue and get back to her. She contacted several people yesterday - but no decision has been made yet. I also spoke briefly with legal counsel from the ACLJ today and sent them the National Dept of Education's "Guidelines concerning Religious Activity in the Public Schools" that the VA Dept. of Education had adopted in 1995. They will get back to me once they have read over the info.

My brother (who worked in the schools here) said that the teachers in his school have never been taught/in-serviced on what the rights of the students really are - what is acceptable and not acceptable, etc. in regards to religious expression in school. The principal here also agreed that that issue has never really been highlighted - so it seems that it's pretty much a guessing game for the teachers and administration as to what the kids can and cannot do. :) Lovely. That is definitely one thing that I want to see changed through all this!! EDUCATION of the teachers and administration on what their actual guidelines/policies are - and on what the LEGAL rights are of the students that they are entrusted to care for and teach! Let's get a clue here people!!
